If a vehicle has earned the highest name in the large MPV segment in India, it is Toyota's Innova, later the company got even stronger with the arrival of Innova Crysta. But in the year 2019, a South Korean company ventured into India and on top of this, the top automobile companies of India made their name.

We are talking about Kia Motors, which made a name for itself with its first compact SUV 'Seltos'. After the success of Seltos, Kia has introduced a new Carnival, stepping into the luxury MPV segment. We got a chance to drive to the new Carnival. Here we are telling you a review of this in a very easy language, which can prove to be very helpful for you.

The wheelbase of this car is quite long which gives it a limousine car look. We got its limousine variant for a test drive. Its windows are quite big, so the passenger sitting inside will be able to see the outside comfortably.

Chrome is used in the vehicle due to which it looks more premium. The company left no stone unturned in quality, fit and finishing. Even from the rear, this car looks quite stylish, its LED tail lamps are designed very well.

Kia Carnival Review

In terms of exterior design, we liked it. If we talk about dimensions, Kia Carnival has a length of 5115mm, width 1985mm, height 1755mm and wheelbase 3060mm. Its curb weight is 2195 kg.

Interior And Space

The new Kia Carnival has 7-seater, 8-seater and 9-seater capacities. Its base variant Premium offers 7-seater and 8-seater seating options, while the mid-variant Prestige has the option of 7-seater and 9-seater layout.

At the same time, the top variant limousine is available only in 7-seater layout. For review, we got the top variant limousine. The plastic quality of its dashboard is soft and quite premium. Space is very good in this. There is no problem of space for legroom and headroom, if you want more legroom, you can slide these seats backwards. You can sit in it comfortably. Due to the floor of Carnival being close to the ground, no one can have trouble climbing and landing in it. Captain seats given in its limousine variants have also been named VIP seats.

All the seats in the car are big and the company has installed perforated Nappa leather cover on them. The Carnival offers 540 liters of boot space, which means that you can carry a lot of luggage, in addition, if you want to keep more luggage, you can increase the boot space of 1624 liters by folding the seats of the last row.

Engine and Performance

The Kia Carnival is powered by a 2.2-liter diesel engine with BS6 that generates 202PS of power and 440Nm of torque with an 8-speed automatic transmission with the engine. Let's know that the Carnival does not offer a manual gearbox option.

Kia Carnival Review

Now, let's talk about how it is in terms of performance? The engine used in it generates good power and torque. So on the highway it runs fiercely. Its gearbox is quite smooth. It gets out easily on bad roads and the passenger sitting in it has no problem and the cabin does not feel tremors.

The suspension in it is very strong. For overtaking too, it gives very good torque. Its engine on the highway was good. At a speed of 100 kmph to 110 kmph, the engine remains at around 1500 rpm due to which the driver enjoys it while driving. Handling and riding were excellent. But at slow speeds, its steering seems a bit heavy.

Because it is a heavy MPV, it becomes a bit difficult to handle when driving it in the city, especially on tight roads, especially as it can be a bit of a hassle to park, so to make parking easier It has the feature of a reverse camera and front parking sensor. Its visibility is quite good. For long distances, it proves to be a good performance MPV.

What will be the feature that will not be found in it, believe it is a feature loaded MPV car. A lot of features have been included in all its variants. It has features like 8.0 inch touchscreen infotainment system, 10.1 inch touchscreen display in the middle-row and connected car technology, as well as, dual-panel sunroof, power sliding rear door, power tailgate, e-zone auto AC, power folding ORVM Features like LED projector headlamp, LED fog lamp, LED tail lamp make it special.

Safety has been taken care of in the Kia Carnival, since a lot of people can sit in it, the company has not ignored the safety of all passengers. The Carnival includes features such as 6 airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchors, EBD with anti-lock braking system, and electronic stability control. Apart from this, features like Hill Start Assist, Cornering Brake Control and Rollover Mitigation have also been provided.

Who will compete

There are no cars currently available in India to compete with the Kia Carnival. It is positioned above the Toyota Innova Crysta and below the Mercedes Benz V-Class and below the Toyota Vellfire.

Kia Carnival is priced at a big plus point from us. As we have told in the beginning that its price goes from Rs. 24.95 lakhs to Rs. 33.95 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi), it is full of features, there was no reduction in performance, the space is so that you can relax and go on a long journey. If you are thinking of buying a luxury MPV for your big family, Kia Carnival will not disappoint you.
