Toyota Overtakes Volkswagen To Become World's Largest Selling Car Company In 2020

Japan's Toyota Motor Corp has surpassed Germany's Volkswagen in terms of sales last year and regained the status of the world's largest car-seller for the first time in five years, thanks to the Kovid-19 epidemic in 2020. Due to this, Volkswagen's sales have fallen drastically compared to Toyota.

Toyota said on Thursday that the entire group had sales of 9.528 million vehicles in 2020, a decline of 11.3 percent, while Volkswagen sales were down 15. percent to 9.305 million vehicles in the year 2020. Vehicle manufacturers have suffered a lot from the Corona virus lockdown, causing customers to shy away from arriving at the dealership, and the company was forced to cut production or stop altogether for a few days.

Despite the epidemic, Toyota has managed to perform better, as the company's domestic market and Asian countries have fallen prey to Carona compared to Europe and the US. Regarding this, a Toyota spokesman said, "Our goal was not to raise this ranking, but to provide facilities to customers."

While the demand for cars has changed, especially in China, many more companies like Toyota and Volkswagen are now paying more attention to the increasing demand for electric cars. Toyota has said that last year the company has sold a total of 23 percent of electric vehicles, which was 20 percent in 2019.
