Tesla's Model S has been dominating the luxury electric vehicle segment for nearly a decade, since it was here that there was no direct competition in the market. But now this atmosphere is not going to be stretched, the curtain has been lifted from the brand new Mercedes-Benz EQS which has been designed according to the competition in the market and in the coming time, we will see the entry of more cars in this segment.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS sedan will be launched by the end of 2021. This car will initially be sold only in the US. The company has said that the EQS electric sedan is the second long range electric car by the company to have a range of 770 km.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS will be made available in two trims - the EQS 450 Plus and the EQS 580. 108.7 kW of lithium-ion batteries have been used in both trims. The EQS 450 Plus is the base variant, it has an electric motor in the previous axle. The car is capable of generating 324 bhp of power and 550 Nm of torque.

The EQS 580 is the top variant that gets a 4-wheel drive system. Electric axles have been installed on both axles of this model. This model offers 509 bhp power and 828 Nm of peak torque. This car can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 4.1 seconds.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS has been given aerodynamic design, which reduces air pressure and increases the range. Mercedes has used the new MBUX hyperscreen in it. This hyperscreen combines three different screens into one giant bezel and will span the entire width of the dashboard. It also functions as a screen instrument cluster and entertainment system.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS charges up to 10-80 percent in just 35 minutes with the help of a fast charger. Sales of the Mercedes-Benz EQS will begin in late 2021 from the European and American markets. This will be followed by crossover models of EQS and EQE. All these electric cars will be built on a modular platform, with the same wheelbase and battery pack.

The EQS will be completely different from the current S-Class sedan. This car will come with a smooth and fluid look. There will be a round roof and short overhangs at both ends. The carmaker claims that the teardrop design of the EQS will be efficient at cutting air better. Under the Mercedes Me initiative, EQS customers will be able to charge their car at Ionity's charging point. Mercedes-Benz plans to introduce 5 million charging points worldwide. Of these, 2 lakh charging points will be in Europe only.

These charging points will support integrated payments, allowing automatic debit using the car owner's chosen method. The carmaker also claims that EQS's navigation system will inform car owners whether the EV charging site supports the Mercedes charger.
