Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 Sold Out For 2021; Next Allotment To Arrive In Q1 2022

Mercedes-Benz India today launched its most expensive SUV Maybach GLS 600 in India and the first batch of SUVs in the country has been sold out even before the official price announcement. The company has sold all the 50+ Maybach GLS 600s that have been allotted till December 2021 and the luxury SUV will be handed over to all these customers in the next few days. At present, the company has started taking pre-bookings for the second batch of Maybach GLS 600 and its import in India will be possible only in the first quarter of 2022.

Commenting on the strong customer response, Martin Schwank, Managing Director, and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, said, “We have received an overwhelming response from customers even before we launched the vehicle. There is a positive buying environment again in the market and it is hard for me to believe that we have got orders for all 50 cars.” On importing the second batch of SUVs, Schwank said, “We have many more customers across us who are looking to buy the vehicle by modifying it according to their needs. The next batch of SUVs will arrive in India by early next year."

The starting price of Mercedes-Benz Maybach GLS 600 in India has been kept at Rs 2.43 Crore, ex-showroom. As we know, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 is based on the new generation GLS SUV that was launched in India last year. This means the new generation Mercedes-Maybach GLS easily differentiates itself from the normal GLS line-up thanks to the new dual-tone body colour. At the front of the SUV, there is a large Maybach-style chrome grille with slim LED headlights installed on the sides. The bumpers are also fitted with large chrome air curtains which are attached to a thick chrome skid plate. Apart from this, chrome finish on the B-pillar of the SUV, Maybach logo on the D-pillar, and 23-inch multi-spoke wheels have been given as an option.

Coming to the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600, the car is powered by a 4.0-litre V8 engine that makes 542 Bhp of power and 730 Nm of peak torque. This engine has been equipped with the company's 9G-Tronic automatic transmission. The company has also given a 48-volt EQ Boost mild-hybrid system to the car's engine which separately makes 21 bhp power and 250 Nm peak torque. The EQ Boost technology makes the car's acceleration even more powerful and the SUV has become better in terms of saving fuel as well. For extremely comfortable travel, the Maybach GLS 600 gets an Airmatic Suspension System with Adaptive Damping System Plus and E-Active Body Control.
